The purpose of this post is 1) to celebrate the most recent tasks we've completed in the yard and 2) just document the current condition of the yard. So...
| Raised beds: only need some final dirt to be DONE and ready for planting. |
| It took almost three years, but I finally got new washers on this hose and reeled it up. |
Raked and cleaned. However, we have discovered there is an excellent
chance that, under three or four inches of dirt, this entire area is paved with random
bricks and pavers. |
| Raked and cleaned. |
| Looking back towards the beds and porch. Also, bottom. |
| Finally found a good location for my stepping stones. |
| Patio! Also, bottom. |
| Yet to be mulched. Scotch broom apparently was not meant to survive here. |
| Hydrangeas and roses all survived! |
| This... looks better in real life. |
| First mow of the year. |
| Layer 1 of experimental, so-called "lasagna garden." |
| Remains of 4 cu yds of organic compost, this year's mulch of choice. |
| Side front bed wooooo! (Used to be two, but I connected them two years ago.) |
| Also, free rocks! |
| My something-something tree is in bloom, too! |
Originally I was going to make this whole area the experimental "lasagna garden."
Then I measured and found out this area is 7'x25'. So no, not today. BUT soon and
for the rest of our lives? |
| Front bed! |
| Other front bed! |
Corner bed with exciting new wing that used to be a buried layer of
bricks and pavers that I decided to dig up. |
| Other front bed from the other direction. |
| Same as above. |
| And yet again. |
| Giant terrifying ant colony in front yard. |
| Margaret, Don Iguana, and the still-alive clematis! |
