As mentioned previously, our garden has
suffered over a year of neglect. However, it's now time to set things right. And so this past Monday, I started to reclaim my poor, sad little yard and garden. This is going to take some time, but I'm trying to take it one day at a time.
Monday, therefore, was Reclamation Day 1, and I kept my goal small: weed the small bed in the front yard and tear out as much of the dead perennials in the front as possible. A few days ago I posted "
before" pictures of the front yard. The small bed is the one with the dried tiger grass and the lamppost. Here is the "after." It's not pretty, but it's improved!

No more tiger grass, no more leaves, no more weeds. |
 |
"I can breath again!" |
 |
All this, just from this one little bed. Yikes. |

I did mention it wasn't pretty. It is better, though, trust me. |
It's hard to tell from these pictures the difference made. Maybe it's a beauty that can only be seen by the gardener herself, like a face only a mother could love. But I
can see it, and I'm so excited to get out there again. If only the weather would hold out!
